Madson - Tour Guide in Rio de JaneiroMadson-Rio-de-Janeiro-Tour-Guide2

Native Brazilian, in my 40s…

  • Profession: Full-time Tour Guide
  • I live in: the heart of Copacabana
  • I have lived in: Venezuela, France, Italy, Denmark and Sweden.
  • I have traveled to: More than 25 countries

After several years abroad I have returned to my home town Rio de Janeiro in 2004, and since then, I have taken more than 7,000+ visitors on fascinating private tours in Rio de Janeiro.

My reputation has been built through my tireless wish to show my clients ONLY the best of Rio. I am friendly, discreet, entertaining, and above all, extremely professional — no wonder I have been several times in the media.

Tour Guide Credentials

See below Rio de Janeiro tour guide license issued by the Ministry of Tourism.

To earn such a license it is necessary to take a comprehensive tour guide training authorized by the Rio de Janeiro State Council of Education. Therefore, this card prooves that I have been fully-trained and that you will be in the good hands of a certified tour guide.

Spoken Languages

In Brazil the official language is Portuguese. However, the great majority of Brazilians do not speak foreign languages, including many locals working in the tourism sector (even tour guides!). The fact is that you may come across people who are even able to speak basic English or Spanish, but not able to completely understand you.

One thing is for sure —  during our private tour you will hear me loud and clear as well as be fully understood. I speak fluently English, French, Italian, Spanish and Portuguese.

During my years abroad I have put an enormous effort to reach fluent level in all languages I speak and the result of this effort is reflected on the diplomas I have earned. The diplomas and certificates here below are at levels C1/C2, the highest levels in the Council of Europe Common European Framework:

  • English – CPE (Certificate of Proficiency in English – Cambridge)
  • Français – DALF (Diplôme Approfondi de Langue Française)
  • Italiano – CILS (Certificazione di Italiano come Lingua Straniera)
  • Español – DELE Superior (Diploma de Español como Lengua Extranjera)

Without a doubt I am more than qualified to serve as your tour guide and take you on a phenomenal private tour. Send me a message now from the contact form on the  left sidebar to book a tour and have a great time with me in Rio de Janeiro!

He was very knowledgeable about the city and provided us with many ideas for meals, entertainment, and nightlife. We always felt safe with him as well. I would highly recommend him for your visit!.”
