1) Shopping Malls – Good for clothing, shoes, Havaianas (Brazilian flip-flops), jewelries, swimwear, music CD’s and DVD’s. This is where locals go for good quality Brazilian-made products. Barra Shopping, the largest one in Rio de Janeiro (housing over 600 stores) is in Barra de Tijuca, just on the way to the wild beach Prainha.
2) Tourist Stores – Good for typical Brazilian souvenirs e.g. mini Christ Statue, Brazilian football shirt, Rio’s t-shirt, Cachaça (Brazilian cane liqueur), etc.
3) The Ipanema Hippie Market (only on Sundays) or Handcrafted Art Stores – Good for art naïve paintings, handmade household decoration, folk art, etc.
